NIGERIA: THE Ogun State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, has suggested the best way to solve series of criminal activities in the state.

Iliyasu said that only when traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders come together to share ideas and information that security threats in and around the Gateway State could be solved.

“Traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders here in Ogun can only solve security threat only when we come together to share our feelings,” Iliyasu said.

According to him, the collaboration was designed to end incessant cases of cultism, kidnapping, robbery and other criminal offense in the state.

The police chief stated these at the meeting he held with traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders in conjunction with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to fashion out ways to tackle the problems of criminality in the state.

While appreciating the effort of the Yewa axis police force, Iliyasu said that it was the only axis that has zero tolerance for cultism, robbery, kidnapping and other criminal acts.

“Yewa has 100 percent cooperation with the state police force,” the police boss said.

The meeting which was organized by Owode-Egbado PCRC division was attended by the Police Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, former legislator for Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, Hon. Isiaq Biodun Akinlade, and Bale Owode-Egbado, Alain Abiola, among other stakeholders.

Iliyasu said at the event that the state can only survive from security threat when all citizens come together with trust and faith.

According to him, the coming together of everyone is the only way to end security threat, just as he urged all citizens to support the police force.

Earlier, the Divisional Police Officer for Owode-Egbado divisional headquarters, Chief Superintendent of Police Agboola Abiodun, had expressed appreciation to Iliyasu, who he described as the “Lion of Gateway,” while also appealing for assistance in his division.

“The station has what can be described as transit camp for new arrivals, part of what has been used as State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and Motorized Division (MTD’s) offices,” he said, adding: “This prompted the officers and men of this division to live in rented quarters which does not enhance productivity.”

Abiodun further said: “We implore you sir, to use your good tenure to equip all Divisional Headquarters and the only area command at Ilaro with necessary machineries and enough personnel to beef up adequate security in the area.”

The State Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, who spoke at the event, stated that propagating micro policing in the community was the only way to fight criminal offenses in the state.

Olaniyan, who said that the residents were the eyes of the police, urged all stakeholders to cooperate and have confidence in the state police force.
