NIGERIA: THE recent retreat of the B-Shift of the Operations Department of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited has been described as “a huge success.”

The lecture was facilitated by the Group Human Resources Manager of Oodua conglomerate, Dr. Morakinyo Oloyede, who spoke on essence of team bonding, and South West Coordinator for Global System for Mobile telecommunication affairs, Mr. Bolarinwa Nureni Onifade, who addressed participants on preparing for retirement.

“The two sessions were eventful.  Dr. Morakinyo took the team through the forming, storming, norming and the termination processes of any team,” the Leader of the team, Engineer Tajudeen Olori told GatewayMail while reminiscencing on the programme.

According to him, Morakinyo counseled that a team should avoid staying too long in the storming stage to reduce conflicts and distractions if they must be success driven. He also pleaded with the team to identify, explore and exploit the different qualities of all the personnel present in a group to the advantage of the team because all should be focus and made important.

While speaking at the event, Olori, who drew the example of a football team where all players have to be committed and hardworking for the team to succeed, charged the participants to embrace the slogan of one for all and all for one.

Onifade, however, told the participants that preparation for retirement begins from the day a worker resumes duty, but lamented that many leave it too late.

He stated that although there are wolves outside there waiting to feast on the retirees’ investments, but that it calls for knowledge, courage, vigilance and steadiness to survive and progress.

The team visited the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, who described NLNG as “the company feeding the nation.”

Oba Gbadebo commended NLNG for recognising and respecting the traditional institutions in the country and commended the virtues of generosity and magnanimity of the company.

During a visit to the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who met the team at Oke-Ona Hall of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), he said that the LNLG was the first to have a programme at the Green Legacy Resort that he would be granting them reception.

Obasanjo praised the activities of NLNG and recommended it as a model for other government investments as a way to ensuring success.

The ex-President commended the NLNG management for organising the programme for the workers in ensuring team bonding out of work environment.

The participants, as part of sideline events to add colour and glamour to the retreat, visited Olumo Rock where they were exposed to the richness in the culture of the Egbas, and Adire Market in Itoku, while sporting and games activities also featured as part of the retreat.
