The royal father, who is from the district that has not produce governor since the creation of the state 41 years ago, specifically urged the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, to plead with their subjects to leave the governorship race and offer support to candidates from Ogun West.

The monarch also urged the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to throw his weight behind candidate from the senatorial district.

He said: “I want to appeal to my senior royal fathers, my fathers – Alake of Egbaland and Awujale of Ijebuland – to help add Maggi cubes and other ingredients to this soup.”

The traditional ruler maintained that the time had come for his district to produce the “soup”, which informed the need for other zones to help in adding “maggi cubes” and other ingredients to make the soup delicious.

Oba Olugbenle stressed that he would be so happy to be the first to taste the “soup,” which was expected to be prepared by his subjects ahead of the poll.

Amosun, in his response, stated that he was fully in support of his successor coming from the zone, while expressing confidence that he was convinced and optimistic that the next governor would be produced from Ogun West Senatorial District.

He assured Oba Olugbenle to be confident in this regard.
