Two die in auto crash, 15 others injured

NIGERIA: NO fewer than two persons on Wednesday died in a multiple accident along Ayedere-Obada Oko axis of the Abeokuta-Sango-Lagos road.
GatewayMail learnt that the crash involved a white truck, wine Almera car and a white coloured commercial bus where 15 others were serious injured.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the accident, explained that the crash, which occurred around 1pm, was caused by over-speeding and break failure of the driver of the truck loaded with granite.
According to him, the truck rammed into the Almera car from behind and the Almera also hit the commercial bus from behind.
“The accident involved a white truck with registration number 44 F95 FG, wine coloured Almera car with registration number TTD 88 4AA and a white commercial bus with registration number FST 435 XD,” Akinbiyi said.
“The truck rammed into the Wine Almera car from behind and the Almera also got the White Commercial bus from behind,” he said, adding: “Two persons died on the spot while 15 others got injured.”
The TRACE image maker further explained that the corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta morgue while the injured persons were taken to Joseph and Christiana Specialist Hospital, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta for treatment.
Akinbiyi pleaded with drivers to desist from over-speeding and should ensure adequate maintenance of their vehicles.
