Commissioner praises Ogun royal fathers for embracing social media

NIGERIA: OGUN State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, has commended some traditional rulers in the state for their initiative in evolving a social media forum through which to sustain positive information dissemination about governance in the state.

Ojuko said that the royal fathers, who began the idea in Ogun Central Senatorial District, deserve praises on this modern form of communication.

He gave the kudos while welcoming some members of the Ogun Central Obas Media Forum who visited him at Obas Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, shortly after their inaugural meeting at Itori in Ewekoro Local Government.

Ojuko expressed gratitude to the Obas for their support for the state government and urged them not be dissuaded from the path of unity and progress which is the fulcrum of Amosun’s mission in the state.

He advised that the social media forum must adhere strictly to the tenets of objectivity based on accuracy of facts devoid of mudslinging on the government and its operatives.

The chairman of the forum, Oba Fatai Akorede Akamo, the Olu of Itori, told the commissioner that the objective of the forum was to ensure regular positive interface among members to be able to sustain continuity in the governance of the state after the completion of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s tenure.

Among the traditional rulers, who are members of the forum, are Alagbado, Oba Adedayo Shyllon Sogbulu; Olowode Ota, Oba Wasiu Ogungbayi; Olu of Owode Egba, Oba Kolawole Aremu Sowemimo; Olu of Obafemi, Oba Taofik Kayode Owolabi; Onipapa of Papalanto, Oba Rasak Jimoh Famuyiwa, and Elejio of Ejio, Oba Oluwasesan Ajani Ogunmuyiwa.

The administrator of the Media Forum, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade Akinale, however, assured Ojuko that sufficient professional mechanism has been put in place to ensure the project of continuity of governance in the state.
