NIGERIA: A SUSPECT, Musiliu Jubril, has confessed how a self-acclaimed Prophet of C & S Church in Sagamu, Mr. Kehinde Onanuga, paid him N20, 000 to kidnap a 13-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo Ajisafe, for ritual.

Jubril made the confession when the Ogun State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, at the State Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, paraded him and 55 other suspected criminals.

The suspects, Iliyasu said, were apprehended for various offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery and murder.

“I am a bricklayer; I attend the church of thus prophet,” Jubril confessed in a chat with journalists.  “He (Onanuga) has been sending me on errands before, but this is the first time he will send me this kind of job.”

“He told me to get a girl for him that he wants to use it to do ritual for some yahoo boys,” Jubril said, adding: “He promised to give me N20, 000 and that he will take me abroad.  I got a girl from one of the girls that used to play around my house; she is 13 years old and her name is Ajisafe Anuoluwapo.”

“I told her that we want to go and get corn from the prophet’s church.  I delivered the girl to the prophet and I don’t know what happened after then,” he stated.

Iliyasu said that Onanuga, who was arrested with various charms, contracted Jubril to kidnap the girl for ritual.

Onanuga, however, denied the allegation, but claimed to be a prophet.  He said: “I have been a prophet for 18 years now.  I once trained under an alfa in 1979.  I was under a church before I left to establish my church.  I used to heal people from sicknesses.

“C & S churches don’t use charms; God is punishing me for using charms with my ministry.”

“I don’t know anything about the girl he is talking of, I only used charm to heal people, I don’t do money ritual,” Onanuga claimed.

However, Iliyasu said that the huge arrest was as a result of the police war against crimes and criminality in the state.

Also among the suspects paraded were fake naval officer, Abdullahi Hammed, fake police officer, David Olasubomi, a mother, Mulika Alaba and her 16-year-old daughter, who were equally apprehended for dealing in Indian hemp.

Iliyasu disclosed that nine persons among the suspects specialised in vandalisation of telecommunication masts across the state.

While warning criminals to stay off the state, the Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the police towards ridding the state of hoodlums.

“I want to restate that there is no room for any criminal to hibernate as far as Ogun State is concerned,” the Commissioner said, adding: “We are resolute and committed to ridding this state of crimes and criminality.  There is no place for any criminal to come and fester in this state.”

Iliyasu: “These operations are being carried out to make citizens of this state sleep with their two eyes closed.  We are assuring them of their safety and security.

“This is why we have embarked on this massive clean-up and flushing of criminals from their hideouts.”

“Definitely, the state will remain a peaceful state as it is being known as the gateway of new industrial hub.  We are calling on the good citizens of this state to assist the police with vital information that could lead to arrest of any intending criminal or anybody with suspicious movement,” he concluded‎
