Ogun inaugurates 38-man committee on health reforms

NIGERIA: OGUN State government has inaugurated a 38-man technical working group to draw up a robust strategic rolling plan for the state health care sector.
The group comprises of members of developing partners and officials of the state Ministry of Health.
Health Commissioner, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, said at the inauguration of the technical committee in Abeokuta, the state capital, that the five-year plan is aimed at ensuring quick and efficient service delivery in 17 priority areas of primary, secondary and tertiary service delivery.
He charged members of the committee to do their assignment, adding that they should use their wealth of experience to bear on the task without compromising quality.
“The committee has been charged to develop a five-year strategic development plan, it’s going to articulate various activities or strategies of the government that will help us to achieve the vision and mission of the government of ensuring effective and qualitative health care service,” Ipaye said.
The Commissioner stressed: “It will also fulfill the expectations of the federal government to have a bottom-up approach to the development of the national health plan and whatever we developed in Ogun State will be sent to the federal government to form a bigger national plan.”
“For us in Ogun State we are uniquely modifying the expectation of the federal government in such a way that will not only fulfill the desire of the federal government, but also on our three system of primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health care delivery,” he also said
He added: “The major plan is to strengthen our primary health care delivery to be able to respond to the health needs of the people, issue of malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, nutrition will be addressed.”
