US okays EU court classification of Hamas as terrorist group

US: THE government of President Donald Trump has expressed joy over the European Court of Justice’s decision to retain the European Union’s proscription of Hamas as a terrorist group.
The Department of State said in a news release made available to GatewayMail that the last July 26 decision was in line with US stand that Hamas has been involved in terrorist activity.
“The United States welcomes the July 26 decision by the European Court of Justice to retain the European Union’s proscription of Hamas as a terrorist organization,” the department said.
It stressed: “Hamas, a U.S. Department of State-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), remains engaged in terrorist activity.”
“Hamas’s election of Yehya Sinwar as their political leader in Gaza earlier this year illustrates that the organization remains a terrorist threat,” the government agency said, adding: “Sinwar is a hardline military commander who was designated by the State Department as an SDGT under executive order 13224 in 2015.”
