Two prospective varsity students, toddler die in auto crash

NIGERIA: TWO prospective students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, on Thursday died
in an auto crash.
They were on their way to the university to formalize their admissions when they died in the accident, which also claimed the life of a two-month old infant.
The Public Relations Officer of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, told GatewayMail, that the crash involved a commercial Mazda bus with registration number TRE 556 XA and a truck marked LND 564 XP.
Akinbiyi stated that the accident happened in Ibara village near interchange along the Abeokuta- Sagamu expressway.
According to him, the truck, which carried granite, rammed into the bus, which was parked beside the road after a female passenger disembarked from it to ease herself.
The truck, he further explained, forcefully dragged the passenger bus, which was coming from Sango-Ota heading towards Ago-Iwoye.
The TRACE image maker stated that the impact of the pull led to the death of the three passengers with several others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
Akinbiyi said that the corpse of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, while the injured persons were also said to be receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The TRACE spokesperson, who explained that the dead toddler was a two-month-old baby, added that the reckless truck driver who caused the accident escaped death, nor sustained any injury.
