NIGERIA: THE height that great men reached and kept is not by a sudden flight.  This is what an old axiom says.  And for Professor Olukayode Oyekanmi Oyesiku, it has been a fulfilling journey of three scores in the land of the living with greater accomplishments that remained unparalleled by his peers.

Professor Oyesiku needs little or no introduction owing to his human and professional exploits that have seen him contributed meaningfully to humanity in all spheres of life and as he towers high above his peers and contemporaries.

He is, no doubt, an erudite scholar, astute University administrator, orator, who equally doubles as a prolific writer, versatile academic and outstanding University teacher of many years standing.

*Prof. Kayode Oyesiku…Pioneer VC of TASUED.

Besides, he is a builder of man and resources, a feat which earned him a place in the “Who is Who in Nigeria” and eventually got him named, in February 2016, among the 40 most distinguished personalities in Nigeria of Ogun State origin.

Professor Oyesiku, who was born on May 31, 1957, hails from Oba in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.  He is a son of two royal families both from his father and mother sides.  He took after his father, who was highly educated and tremendously successful.  Little wonder, he is the only child in the entire family that shares the same middle name ‘Oyekanmi’ with his father.

As exemplified by his name Olukayode, his birth to Chief Olukunmi Oyekanmi Oyesiku and Mrs. Caroline Olufunmilayo Oyesiku was not only a blessing to his family, but the world at large.

Versatile Olukayode had impregnable and intimidating educational accomplishments with his pursuits taking him beyond the shores of Nigeria. He had his Higher Certificate/Advanced Level in Geography, Mathematics and Chemistry from The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 1977; Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Geography (2nd Class Upper) from University of Ibadan in 1980; Masters of Urban and Regional Planning (M.URP), University of Ibadan, 1983; Master of Development Studies (Regional Transport Development and Planning) from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands, 1991, having earlier bagged his Ph.D at the University of Benin, Benin-City, Nigeria in 1989.

Professor Oyesiku, an academic egghead has to his credit over 280 academic publications, including 15 textbooks, 78 local and international journal articles, 58 chapters in university audience books; and 109 peer reviewed and refereed learned conferences papers, local and international.

Through his intellectual fecundity, he has produced a number of academics which include twelve (12) Ph.D graduates in Transport & Logistics Management and several more on the line.

Professor Oyesiku has also attended over 133 local and international learned conferences.  He has also presented over 45 Public Distinguished Guest Personality papers and he is a winner of many scholarships, foreign fellowships and awards including the prestigious Senior Fulbright Research Scholar of the United States of America in 1996, Fulbright Alumni Initiative Award grant fellow also of the United States of American government in 2002, Netherlands Government Fellowship Program in 1990 and Postgraduate Scholarship award of the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1982.

His philanthropic, academic cum professional voyage has earned him over 145 distinguished awards and recognitions including Doyen of Professional Administration – Federal College of Education; Humanitarian Service Award – Rotary Abeokuta; 2013 Merit Award of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria by ICAN; Best Head of Tertiary Institution Award, by the Ogun State Government; Meritorious Award as an ICON of Educational Development, by Rotary District 9110; and TASUED Distinguished.
