NIGERIA: THE Secretary to Ogun State Government (SSG), Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, has debunked speculations that he has resigned over differences between him and Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Adeoluwa explained that the self-acclaimed blogger, who originated the falsehood, is a known notorious mischief maker currently facing cyber-criminal charge in court.

GatewayMail gathered that the “resignation” hoax which was spread on the social media was credited to one SF Ojo, the man who was recently dragged to court over alleged unfounded news against the wife of the governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun.

The hoax reads: “Ogun SSG Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa resigns! Sights (sic) Governor’s financial recklessness.  Amosun makes frantic effort to upturn his resignation.

“In a very sharp twist of events within the top hierarchy of government in Ogun State, the state SSG Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa has forwarded his resignation letter to the governor.

“From a very reliable source within the government circle, it was revealed that all has not been going on well with between the governor and the SSG.”

“The EFCC had visited the SSG’s office twice and the ministry of works and infrastructure once going through their papers with regards to the purchase of Armored Vehicles, events holding funds and road construction in the state in the last 4 years,” the acclaimed blogger alleged.

The blogger added: “Just recently, the SSG challenged the governor right in the middle of the weekly state executive meeting, going against the reconstruction of the Gateway Annex building and questioning the amount it was awarded for and why it should be concessioned after spending that huge amount.”

The SSG was alleged to have counselled Amosun to channel “the money into various abandoned projects which the governor bluntly refused for obvious reasons.”

He added: “It was also revealed that the SSG was very bothered with the high level of financial recklessness and confided in close friends that he’s afraid of going to jail after this administration.

“The high level of financial recklessness forced the SSG to travel out of the country and directed his assistant to forward his resignation letter to the office of the governor directly when he gets abroad.

“The governor upon receiving the resignation letter has began frantic effort to get in touch with the SSG and keep the news away from the media.  The SSG has refused to pick his calls and later switched off his phones.

“It is however not clear if the SSG has returned to the country as things seem to be falling apart within the government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.”

But, on Saturday when GatewayMail contacted Adeoluwa, he denied the alleged resignation, saying that it was the unfounded information from a mischievous person, who should not be taken serious.

The SSG said that the self-acclaimed blogger had earlier been charged to a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta last year, where he’s currently facing trial over false publication against the Governor’s wife.

Adeoluwa explained that contrary to the fake news, he still represented the government at a function last Friday at Abeokuta Sports Club during the swearing in of the new executive of the club.

He said: “The originator of the fake news, SF Ojo is a known notorious liar and mischief maker.  What a rubbish?  His action is not good for the system. This is the same person who was arraigned at Abeokuta Magistrate Court last year on similar falsehood.  His case is still also at Federal High Court, where he is facing cybercrime charge”

“And let me say this, apart been a personal friend of the governor for years, I will continue to contribute my quota positively for the success of his administration.  I have not resigned as being speculated.  I was still at the governors wives forum‎ held few days ago in Abeokuta,” Adeoluwa stated.
