Police nab three girls, eight suspected cultists in Ogun

NIGERIA: POLICEMEN have nabbed two teenagers, a 20-year-old girl and no fewer than eight other suspected cultists at their hideouts in Ijeja area of Agbado in Ogun State.

The police in the Gateway State said that the suspects were nabbed on Sunday at the time they were planning to launch attack against some unknown persons.

The state Command Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a news release made available to the GatewayMail on Monday that they were arrested on Sunday, April 30.

“Men of Ogun State Police Command yesterday, 30th of April, arrested eleven members of notorious cult group who have been terrorising Ijeja area of Agbado,” Oyeyemi said.

He added: “The suspects who were rounded up in their hideout where they were planning to launch attack include: (1) Abayomi Agbefolaju m’ 25yrs (2) Alaba Ayoade m’ 17yrs (3) Olamide Abdul Rasheed m’ 21yrs (4) Hakeem Ayoola m’ 21yrs (5) Olaoye Gbolahan m’ 21yrs (6) Adebayo  Julius m’ 21yrs (7) Taiwo Sodiq m’ 22yrs (8) Teniola Imoleayo m’ 22yrs ( 9) Adesina Aminat  f’ 20yrs (10) Seun Odemuyiwa f’ 18yrs (11) Kehinde Adunoye f’ 18yrs.”

According to the command’s image maker, the items recovered from them include one UTC axe, one UTC cutlass, some blue berets, charms and other dangerous weapons.

“The commissioner of police CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the suspects be transferred to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for proper investigation and prosecution,” he said.

“He therefore warned that the state will never be conducive for anybody who wants to hide under any cult group to wreak havoc on innocent citizens of the state,” Oyeyemi said.
