NIGERIA: PEACE has finally returned to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State following the intervention of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Amodu Sheriff.

Sheriff on Monday held a meeting with the two factions of the PDP where he urged them to be united and remain faithful members.
The National Chairman told members at the parley held in Enugu that Enugu State was the best venue to restore peace, while assuring that major political offices in Anambra State, in the next election, would be won by PDP.
He promised them that the target set by Anambra PDP would be achieved in the next coming election.
“Why we are here is to make sure that everything would be normal and we will win all the positions in Anambra next election,” Sheriff boasted.

He promised that those elected during the primary election at the grassroots would be recognised as the candidates, pointing out that his leadership would not change them.
“It is true that the problem is the Wadada and I am promising you that my administration will not allow such to happen,” Sheriff said, adding: “The candidates elected at the grassroots would be recognised at the national level.”
The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who was represented by his Deputy, Barrister Cecilia Ezeilo, lauded Anambra PDP for coming together under one umbrella.

Ugwuanyi urged them to win all the major political positions in the state in the next election.
Also speaking at the forum, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, lauded the party members and urged them to restore PDP in Anambra.
Umahi, who was represented by his Deputy, Kelechi Igwe, pointed out that the entire South East is waiting to see PDP take over Anambra in the next election to celebrate the leadership of Sheriff.
Also speaking, Senator Chris Uba, pointed out that Anambra is a PDP state and must win the next election.

While reflecting on the past governors of the state, Uba said that PDP won in 1999 and 2011, and assured that it would repeat the feat in the next election.
He told Sheriff that the problem the PDP had been encountering in Anambra was Wadata which failed to recognise the candidates elected from the grassroots but favoured those connected to the National Executive Council of the party.
