Ogun govt nabs fake ABU certificated medical doctor

NIGERIA: A FAKE doctor, who claimed to have obtained degree from the Department of Medicine at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, has been arrested in Ogun State.
The suspect, Sunday Adeyeye, was arrested by the Ogun State government after he tendered the fake certificate for revalidation at the Ogun State Ministry of Health Headquarters, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The Director, Hospital Services in the ministry, Sola Adebiyi, who confirmed this to GatewayMail on Friday explained that the suspect was found with the forged certificate when he presented it for the regular revalidation exercise.
Adebiyi stated that Adeyeye had been hired by the owner of Ganny-hash Clinic and Maternity Hospital, Ifo to secure the facility’s revalidation with the ministry.
The Director revealed that after close screening of Adeyeye’s academic records it was discovered that he had been practising with was fake certificate.
“We were suspicious when the owner of the facility, Mr. Ganiyu Okewole presented the fake certificate belonging to the doctor for revalidation of his facility,” Adebiyi said, adding: “Going through the Ahmadu Bello University certificate he presented and comparing it with the ministry’s records, there we discovered he has been practicing with a forged certificate and we immediately called in the police to effect his arrest.”
However, while speaking with journalists, Adeyeye confirmed that he was not a medical graduate of ABU.
He disclosed that the ABU certificate was forged in his name in Zaria, even as he added that he h ad been working with the hospital since February, 2017.
GatewayMail can recall that the ministry had apprehended no fewer than six fake doctors since it started the revalidation exercise for private health facilities in the state while 168 private health facilities had been shut.
