Ogun: Four burnt to death in petrol tanker crash

NIGERIA: FOUR persons have been burnt to death in a petrol tanker fire that occurred along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Public Relations Officer, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed to GatewayMail said that the fatal auto crash occurred on Tuesday at Fidiwo axis of the road.
According to him, the six occupants of the tanker, who were identified as Hausa, were going to Ibadan with the vehicle on top speed when the driver lost control and crashed.
Akinbiyi explained that the tanker fell down and immediately caught fire, which burnt the four victims beyond recognition.
The TRACE image maker further said that before the firefighters could reach the scene, the four victims had died, but added that the fire was later put off.
Akinbiyi stressed that at the time of filing this report, the family members of the deceased persons had claimed their remains.
Similarly, a lone accident occurred at the scene of the crash with three occupants in the car.
He maintained that the driver with registration number AGL 958 XL who was driving dangerously before the crash caused the accident due to his impatience. Akinbiyi, however, stressed that those in the car sustained minor injuries.
According to him, in order to ensure free flow of vehicles, traffic control officials were immediately moved to the road.
