According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the robbers armed with guns and other dangerous weapons arrived the estate at about 3pm last January 25 in a lorry.

The police image maker stated that luck, however, ran against them when distress call was made to Mowe divisional headquarters of the police, consequent upon which the Divisional Police Officer, Francis Ebhuoma, a Chief Superintendent of Police, led his anti-robbery team to the scene and engaged the robbers in gun duel. Oyeyemi stressed that the team succeeded in demobilising the lorry and got two members of the gang, namely Monsuru Mukaila and Abdulahi Ogundiya, arrested while others escaped with their weapons.

He further said that the two arrested men later led policemen to where one Saheed Ishola, who was said to be the gang leader, was arrested.

According to him, the lorry loaded with iron rod was recovered from the scene, and the injured security men have been taken to hospital for medical attention.
