The Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Barrister Adeoluwa Taiwo, agreed at the official decoration of the newly promoted 298 staffers of the agency, on the shortage of manpower at the agency, which he said was worrisome to the government.

Taiwo stated that due to this development, the government had met with the management and resolved to employ additional personnel.

“We are aware of shortage of manpower and equipment, and also appreciate the roles the agency is and has been playing on our roads,” Taiwo said, adding: “The government has met with the management with the view to employ more staff, and that would be implemented in due course.”

The SSG, who had earlier commissioned three newly acquired operational vehicles of TRACE, admitted the good job the agency has been doing, and assured of government’s continued ‎support to the management.

Earlier, the TRACE Commander, Seni Ogunyemi, had disclosed that work would soon start on the construction of the agency training camp and permanent headquarters.

Ogunyemi said that the proposed multi-million naira office complex will be located on three hectares of lands donated by the Ogun State Government along OGTV-Ajebo road in Abeokuta‎.

He, however, assured that TRACE would continue to strive and re-dedicate itself to the corps’ mission and vision statement of ensuring service delivery through the promotion of safety.

Ogunseni charged the newly promoted officials to realise that the promotion was a reward for excellence and service, and a call for additional service and responsibility.

The Head of Service, Abayomi Sobande, at the event, urged the promoted officials to note that the reward of hard work was more work, while also enjoining them to reciprocate the gesture.

“You must continue to uphold the sanctity of the service, most especially as enshrined in the public service rules,” he said, adding: “You must see your promotion as a call for more service to the government and good people of Ogun State.”

Sobande, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Pension, Babatunde Agbaje, urged the TRACE workers to be diligent in their responsibilities.

He also advised them to shun any acts that can tarnish their names and the integrity of the agency.
