GABON: THE Stallions of Burkina Faso on Saturday defeated Tunisia by two goals to nil to qualify for the semi-finals at the ongoing African Cup of Nations competition in Libreville.

The two goals were scored in the second half of the match with substitute, Aristide Bance scoring the first goal, within four minutes after he came in, in the 81st minute through a free-kick from the 20 yards.

An attempt by Tunisia to equalise by pushing most of the players forward paved way for the second goal through Prejuce Nakoulma who outwitted goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi.

The Stallions, coached by Paulo Duarte, went into ecstasy after the end of the match which will make them face either Morocco or Egypt in the last four on Wednesday.

Similarly, Senegal lost out to Cameroon by five goals to four in a penalty shoot after a 120 minutes goalless encounter which went into extra time.

Senegal crashed out of the competition when the penalty kick by its player, Sadio Mane, who played for Liverpool, was saved by Ondoa, while Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions’ substitute, Vincent Aboubakar scored the winning penalty to enable the team advanced to the chance to win the cup for the fifth title.

Meanwhile, Democratic Republic of Congo and Ghana will tackle themselves on Sunday while Egypt, too, will engage Morocco in another quarter final duels.

However, the winners of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon will represent Africa in this year’s FIFA Confederations Cup Russia.
