Ogun SWAN picks Amosun’s ex-school mate as Patron

NIGERIA: THE Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ogun State Chapter has appointment its Patron.
He is the Chairman, First August Construction Company, Engr. Mutiu Adebowale, whose induction was held at the Abeokuta Sports Club at the Government Reservation Area, GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta, the state capital.
The event was attended by a large number of the club members and sports writers from various media houses.
Adebowale, who is the son of a renowned Egba socialite, popularly known as “Cash Madam”, is also the President of Abeokuta Sports Club.
The new patron assured that he would contribute meaningfully to the growth of the sports association, while stating that he felt delighted to have been considered for the position.
He promised not to disappoint the association in all ramifications.
Adebowale, who attended the same secondary school, African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta with Governor Ibikunle Amosun, explained that Abeokuta Sports Club under his administration had embarked on an Olympic size swimming pool, which would be ready in March.
While responding to the opportunity of holding talks with the Ogun State government on the swimming pool as training place for swimmers to represent the state at the National Sports Festival and other swimming competitions, he said that he would only welcome such if government approaches the sports club.
The state Chairman of SWAN, Hakeem Akintunde, earlier had said that the appointment of Adebowale was due to his disposition to the development of sports.
Akintunde disclosed that the members of SWAN in the state, at its congress, unanimously picked Adebowale as the patron, which is an affirmation of his consensus choice.
