Ogun police nab two bandits, search for accomplices

NIGERIA: POLICEMEN in Ogun State have arrested two armed bandits, Okedele Abayomi and Adeboye Demola, who robbed a shop owner in Ijoko area of the state.
GatewayMail also learnt that detectives are on the trail of two other accomplices now on the run.
The state Police Public Relations Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a news release on Friday that the robbers were apprehended last Wednesday after they robbed one Brahimo Nurudeen along Rev. Gbogboade Street, Elerinko, Ijoko.
“The gang, armed with dangerous weapons busted into the shop of their victim at about 7.35pm and robbed him of his money and handset,” Oyeyemi said, adding: “In their bid to escape, one of them shot one Suleman Arogundade on the head before they ran away.”
He added: “On getting the information, the Anti-robbery team at Sango Divisional Headquarters were led to the scene by their DPO, SP Ogunwale Akinsola, cordoned off the area and were able to arrest two of the suspects namely.
According to the police image maker, items recovered from the bandits included one locally made pistol, one axe, six phones, one knife, one hammer and assorted charms.
“The injured victim was rushed to General Hospital, Otta for treatment, but later died while receiving medical attention,” Oyeyemi said.
The PPRO added that Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, who commended the policemen for their quick response to distress call, ordered that the suspects be transferred to FSARS for discrete investigation with the view of arresting the fleeing members of the gang.
