NIGERIA: OGUN State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has promised to give necessary support to indigenous and local initiatives geared towards the promotion of commerce and entrepreneurship in the state.
It also said that any synergy that is in tune with government programmes in this direction would enjoy the full support of the present administration.
Amosun stated this on Thursday while laying the foundation of the N30 million Morgan-Parakoyi Egba House at Iporo Ake, Abeokuta, the state capital.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, stated that the Egba Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, often known as Parakoyi, had been a well-organized system that enabled the Egbas to have an edge in commerce and trade, to the extent of engaging in external trade.
The Governor, therefore, congratulated the Olori Parakoyi of Egbaland, Chief Kashimawo Laloko, and the leadership of the indigenous chamber, to sustain the good name acquired by group over the years by ensuring that indigenous business moved to the next level.
Similarly, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, urged the leadership and members of the chamber to administer the Parakoyi system with total honesty, commitment and fear of God.
Oba Gbadebo, who gave the charge while laying the foundation of the House, noted that the Egba indigenous commerce and trade system had contributed a lot to the Egba native economy to date, and it must be sustained.
The royal father specially praised Amosun for the momentous growth and development of Egbaland and other parts of the state, which by extension had added values to the increase in the economic activities of commerce in Egbaland.
Oba Gbadebo commended the quality leadership of Laloko since he became the Olori Parakoyi, adding that it was his initiative that Parakoyi chiefs should have its own chamber of commerce house.
He urged the Parakoyis to compliment the efforts of Amosun’s administration in fighting recession and eradicating poverty in Egbaland, especially through hard work, devoid of rancor and infighting.
Earlier, Laloko had appreciated Alake for his royal support in enabling the Parakoyis to secure the land for the House.
Laloko, who promised Oba Gbadebo that the Parakoyi Egbas would never disappoint him, thanked the Morgan Family of Iporo for their cooperation and understanding.
He also disclosed that the Parakoyis would complement Amosun’s administration, in his programmes to eradicate poverty in Egbaland.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the Balogun of Egbaland, Chief Sikirullah Atobatele, Chief Israel Akin Akinwale, the Baagbimo and Olootu Layi Labode, Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland.

No the Maui trip is not off but as of now I am down to just four nights in Maui which pretty much makes it a no go. I havent had time to call to get an update, too busy with conference, keeping up with blogs and I wasted enough time trying to burn me my UA miles and giving up in the process exasperated. Most people in this business in the conference are good guys, in the advice business. Scumbags always sneak in of course but not as many as in other conferences where you still see “Wolf of Wall Street” types.
