Mapoly Press Club elects new officers

NIGERIA: THE Press Club of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta in Ogun State has elected new officers who will steer its affairs for the 2016/17 academic session.
The new leaders – led by Ifedayo Ogunyemi as the President – were unveiled at the last meeting of the Club for the 2015/16 session on Thursday.
Members of the executive board include Olatunbosun Salau (Vice-President), Kafayat Ikanrende (General Secretary) and Olamide Odutolu (Assistant General Secretary).
Others are Ahmad Obanoyen (Public Relations Officer), Boluwatife Awe (Deputy Public Relations Officer), Olasunbo Sobogun (Treasurer) and Olabisi Oladosu, who will act as the Membership Director.
Olasunkanmi Akinlotan is to serve as the Editor and Head of the Editorial Board while Ikimot Adeyemi will assist him as the Deputy Editor.
The immediate past President of the club, Babatunde Adeoye, charged the new executive members to uphold the virtues of the profession.
Ogunyemi, in his acceptance speech, said that his team would work hard to achieve the set goals, while the unity within the members would be maintained to ensure success.
He added that the Press Club objectives would be achieved through dedication, hardwork and unity of purpose.
“Having critically observed the different challenges faced by Press Club MAPOLY in times past especially towards personnel, finance, equipment, apathy, unity, intimidation from management, I submit that I can only serve in this capacity by the grace of God and through your support,” Ogunyemi said.
He added: “This is a call to work my fingers to the bone – just as Mayflower has taught me.”
“A lot have been said about reviving the Press Club,” the club’s President said, adding: “This is an on-going project our administration will not forget to continue and we will devote our time massively to achieve this God willing.”
Ogunyemi also said: “We strongly believe the identified and hitherto unidentified resources of Press Club MAPOLY would be identified and would be used to further lift the name of Press Club MAPOLY higher than we have met it.
“It is on this note that I formally inform you all that I’ve accepted the call to duty, a call to serve and not one for a merry-go-round.”
“And this call is to serve as the President of Press Club MAPOLY for the forth-coming 2016/17 academic session,” he emphasised.
The Press Club MAPOLY includes student journalists, broadcasters, poets and writers on the polytechnic campus.
This is awesome. My husband actually remembers the commercials. When I was reading this post to him he said “She’s going to give him a cup of her decaf…complete with cream and sugar…” and I completely lost it. He also even remembered the name of her plane tickets. I think he was one of those consumers who followed the coffee couple.
