And now, the hospital has declared that the only option left for the patient to survive was a transplant to be carried out in an Indian hospital.

When the GatewayMail correspondent visited Akinsanya at FMC, the once robust lady felt dejected over her plight.

Her cash-strapped parents are now appealing for financial assistance to enable their daughter to live‎.

A letter of appeal, which was signed by Mr. and Mrs.‎ Olusegun Akinsanya, the patient’s mother and father, said that in order to raise fund for their daughter’s treatment abroad, an account has been opened for Oluwayanmife Iyanu Akinsanya at Guaranty Trust Bank with number 0116126538.

“The situation now is precarious that she has being undergoing haemodialysis three times a week at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta at the cost of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) per session, drugs inclusive,” they said in the letter.

They stressed: “The only alternative left is for her to go for kidney transplant which she has agreed to undergo at a reputable hospital in India as soon as possible.

“The estimated cost of the operations, payment for the donor or for the donated kidney, drugs and post-transplant check-up is N10million,” they said.

The distraught parents added: “In view of the cost outlay the family has been able to raise some amount which is far cry by all standards from what is required.  In this regard, we shall be forever grateful if you can kindly assist us with your prayers and financial contribution to enable us set out for the transplant as advised by the consultant in charge of her.

“We pray that as the Lord touches your heart to give, He will never forget your labour of love and reward you glowingly.  The account number for payment is: Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, 0116126538, Oluwayanmife Iyanu Akinsanya.”

And to prepare in advance, the FMC had contacted a kidney specialist hospital in India to take over the patient’s treatment, if the family is able to raise the medical bills.
