Others items found with him included one international passport, a withdrawal slip belonging to one Joseph Olayinka, an official identity card of a Kosofe Local Government staff, charms and sim card.‎

The 24-year-old suspect was arrested by men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogun State Command after his gang had allegedly burgled into one Toyota Camry with registration number, Lagos FFF 593 AA, and stole a dry-cell battery belonging to one Rabiu in Tekobo area in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.

The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Kareem Olanrewaju, who confirmed the arrest in Abeokuta, said that Adediran was arrested with a locally made gun.

Upon arrest, he said that the suspect claimed that the gun belonged to a friend with whom they were living together in the same Tekobo area.

According to Olanrewaju, the suspect, along with others now at large, were suspected by residents to be behind the series of crimes often committed in their community, which led to suspicion.

He further explained that two other gang members, Adelanwa Seun and Adelanwa Damilola, fled on sighting the search team led by a member of the Corps.

The Command spokesman said, though, the suspect denied knowledge of the burgling the car, but the community search team was not satisfied with his explanation, particularly when they found in his possession firearm and other incriminating items.

Olanrewaju said: “This they informed NSCDC team who were on patrol of critical infrastructures around Sam-Ewang/Idi-Aba axis.  The suspect was arrested with the exhibits found in his possession and taken to the office for necessary action.”

He added: “Alajo and his gang will need to explain where they came by the gun and what they were doing with it and other incriminating items.  Besides, there is likely they get clues to other crimes being committed in the past with this discovery.”

Olanrewaju further stressed that NSCDC teams on patrol of critical infrastructures will continue to assist people in distress in line with the directive of the Corps Commandant, Aboluwoye Akinwande not to ignore people when they are called upon.
