Ogun police nab two robbery suspects, search for fleeing members

NIGERIA: THE Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who robbed a woman at Olumide Ajayi Street, off Block, Ilogbo Road, Ota in Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government area of the state.

The duo of 40-year-old Ademola Oladunjoye and 20-year-old Olawale Idowu were apprehended last Sunday around 6.30pm, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said.

“The Police operatives attached to Respond Squad of the Otta Area Command, who responded to a distress call, caught the suspects in the act,” Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.

He added: “The operatives arrested them and recovered one Sterling SMG rifle and one cut-to-size double barreled gun with various calibre of ammunition.

“Also, a Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. LAGOS KTU 808 AS was recovered from them, while the other fleeing members of the armed robbery gang escaped with one Honda Pilot SUV with Reg. No. LKJ 621 EA.”

According to the police image maker, other items recovered from the armed robbers included assorted charms, brands of mobile phones and clothes.

Similarly, the police operatives attached to Agbado Division engaged some suspected armed bandits, who were operating at No 2 Church Street, Giwa, Agbado in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, in a fierce gun battle last Sunday around 8.40pm

“The suspected armed robbers however escaped with bucket wounds but 2 cut-to-size guns with ammunition were recovered from them,” Adejobi said.

He added: “The Command therefore appeals to the general public, especially medical practitioners, to be on the look-out for anyone or people with bullet wounds and the aforementioned stolen Honda Pilot with which the fleeing members of the armed robbery gang escaped, for possible arrest and recovery respectively.”

He also stressed: “The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali has directed that the suspects (cases) be transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad Ogun State for proper investigation. And that the SARS and other concerned team to go after the fleeing suspects who escaped from the scenes, Ilogbo Otta and Giwa Agbado and bring them to book as the Command will not spare anyone or group of persons who terrorize the good people of Ogun State.”

“CP Abdumajid Ali also appeals to the general public to contact and help the Police with useful information that can assist the police in the course of their investigation on 08081770416 or 08123822910,” the PPRO said.
