Ogun: Ex-LG boss, publisher lead OGD faction of PDP exco

NIGERIA: THE former Chairman of Ifo Local Government and ex-governorship aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Sikirulai Ogundele, has emerged the Chairman of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel-led faction of the party.
Similarly, members of the party also elected the Publisher of First Weekly Magazine, Malik Ibitoye as the Publicity Secretary, while among others to join the state executive team are Ibukun Ojosipe (Deputy Chairman), Bode Bankole (Secretary), Ismaila Odejimi (Vice-Chairman Central), Kayode Adebayo (Vice-Chairman East), Wale Adeogun (Vice-Chairman West), Lolu Adenuga (Treasurer), Waliu Oladipupo (Organising Secretary) and Shina Adegbenro (Financial Secretary).
The names of the PDP officers were announced late Tuesday evening after its congress held at Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the state capital, where no fewer than 815 accredited delegates voted for the 27 new state executive members.
Ogundele, after the officers were sworn in by a legal practitioner, Yemi Oke, pledged to take the PDP in the state to the promised land.
The new Chairman, who was a two-term member of the state House of Assembly, also promised to restore the lost unity in the party, while pleading with all aggrieved members to close ranks.
Ogundele expressed optimism that under his leadership the PDP will defeat the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) in the 2019 general election in the Gateway State.
