The dream of a Pakistani man to become a Canadian citizen – and live in Canada as his second country – has been dashed by the Immigration and Refugee Board.

The board found 33-year-old Jahanzeb Malik guilty of alleged plot to bomb the financial district and the US Consulate in Toronto.

He is to leave Canada as soon as possible, the board decided.

This came barely less than a month after Muhammad Aqeeq Ansari, also a Pakistani man, was ordered out of Canada.

Ansari, who was found guilty of amassing a collection of high-powered guns, was deemed a national security risk to Canada.  The two are likely to be deported in the next three weeks.

The board, which ruled that Malik was a danger to the Canadian society, therefore, ordered that he should be deported back to his home country, Pakistan, without delay.

Malik, a Permanent Resident, arrived Canada in 2004 as a student of the York University, Toronto, but later married a Canadian.

The wife sponsored him to get legal status to stay in Canada, but with the ruling he has been stripped of his Permanent Residency and remained inadmissible.

The board member, Andy Laut, in the decision declared that Malik offence bordered on national security as his attempt to launch bomb attack in Canada was unacceptable.

Malik watched the decision via video link.

An undercover cop, who disguised to him as a one-time Muslim fighter from Bosnia, testified against him at the hearing.

Malik confessed to the secret Mountie that he had joined and fought for Al Qaeda in Libya, and evidence at the Canada Border Service Agency confirmed that he indeed travelled to Libya at the period.

But upon return to Canada in 2013, the culprit claimed that he was a teacher in a Benghazi school contrary to the finding of the border agency that he was, for certain period, at a paramilitary camp in Libya.

In the latest incident that led him into the hook of the law, Malik said he intended heading to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) to fight, but instead changed his mind to carry out attack in Canada.

The undercover testified that Malik attempted to radicalized him and make him an accomplice to carry out the attack in Toronto.

“We have to do something in Canada,” the Mountie said Malik told him, adding: “He said that there are no civilians in Canada, only enemies because all Canadians pay the tax and the tax dollars are used to buy the planes that are sent to Syria and Iraq and are used to fund the military.”

“My impression was that he was very serious about these conversations,” the Mountie further testified, adding that every available pieces of evidence proved that Malik had been radicalized by the ideals of ISIS and was ready to be violent.

Malik counsel, Anser Farooq, reacted to the ruling: “Mr. Malik has been deemed to be inadmissible.”

Farooq condemned the decision, saying: “The immigration detention review and inadmissibility process is farcical in the face of the serious allegations and the standard of proof required to label someone for the rest of their life.”

Jessica Lourenco, who represented the government, said that Malik was not only ready to carry out the attack but indeed made enquiries on the feasibility of making bombs and the quantity of explosives needed.

She said: “There were quite frequent communications about this plan,” stressing further: “It was a plan Mr. Malik did intend to follow through on.”

She stated that because the culprit had a valid passport, he would be promptly deported to Pakistan – without further delay.

Her words: “I’m just going to get Mr. Malik out of here just as soon as we can”
