NIGERIA: TRAGEDY struck on Friday in Abeokuta when a truck killed a middle aged woman, while her child narrowly escaped death.
GatewayMail learnt that the unidentified woman was said to be waiting at a bus stop to board a taxi when the truck ran over her at Adatan area of the Ogun State capital.
Eyewitnesses explained that the vehicle crushed the woman, smashed her head and splattered her intestine.
The woman’s blood, GatewayMail further gathered, littered the venue of the accident, where residents and sympathisers, who rushed to the scene, cried profusely lamenting her gory death.
When GatewayMail visited the spot, efforts were being made to locate the family of the deceased, while her child was being taken care of by sympathizers.
It was also learnt that shortly after the incident, the driver of the truck took to his heels to avoid the wrath of the mob that were said to be searching for him.
But, police later apprehended the driver while the corpse of the woman had been deposited at the General Hospital, Ijaiye morgue.
