Ogun begins repair of Lagos-Ibadan expressway

NIGERIA: THE government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has taken temporary measures to improve the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The bad portions of the road, particularly the Mowe-Ibafo axis, are being repaired by the government, the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga, has said on Monday.

Onanuga explained that the measure was to ameliorate the plight of commuters plying the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan

expressway and ease the traffic gridlock usually experienced on the road.

The Deputy Governor, who led other members of the State Executive Council to monitor the work, said that the government decided to repair the bad portions of the road as palliative measures to reduce traffic jam along the ever busy expressway.

She stressed that government can no longer fold its arms to watch motorists suffer from the gridlock and loss of man-hour caused by the deplorable condition of the road while waiting for the Federal Government to fix the road.

The Deputy Governor maintained that the on-going repair is being carried out by the government through its Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

According to her, the government had always carried out such maintenance on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and other Federal roads within the state.

Onanuga charged motorists plying the road to bear with the ‘men at work’ and cooperate with them as repair progresses.

Impressed with the work done so far, two motorists, Cletus Okoro and Sarafa Araba, praised Amosun government for showing genuine concern to the plight of the people.

They agreed that the government’s regular intervention on the expressway had impacted positively on the socio-economic lives of motorists plying the road and residents of the affected areas.
