Vandals flee as police seize three trucks with stolen fuel

NIGERIA: THREE trucks loaded with fuel stolen by vandals at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at Agbowa have been seized by men of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed this to journalists, said that the police’s operatives attached to Ogijo Division of the command apprehended the trucks on Monday at about 12.30am

Adejobi said that the police operatives, who acted on a tip off, moved to the portion of the pipeline to apprehend the vandals who fled the scene immediately.

When they sighted the police, they abandoned the three trucks, the police image maker said.

He said: “The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ogijo Division, who led the operation, has personally escorted the trucks to Abeokuta for safe keeping and proper investigation, as directed by the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali.”

The PPRO added that Ali commended the Divisional Police Officer and his men for the successful operation that led to the recovery of the trucks.

The police image maker stated that anyone who was involved in such criminal and deadly act in the state would not be spared.

Adejobi said that Ali also assured the public that the case would be thoroughly investigated and all the escaped vandals will be apprehended and faced the full wrath of the law.
