Arase had given the policemen special promotion after he was impressed with the guard of honour mounted for him during his last visit to the Eleweran, Abeokuta Police Command.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Abdulmajid Ali, performed the decoration on four sergeants who were promoted to inspectors – Ijiji Haruna, Tochukwu Igwe, Friday Mamudu and Adejo Felix.

The other lucky four corporals, who were promoted to sergeants, according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Muyiwa Adejobi, are Mathew Adehi, Usip Uwemedimo, Faruna Danjuma and Emmanuel Unazi.

Adejobi explained in a release that Ali, who was assisted during the decoration by members of the management team of the command, directed his Deputy in charge of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Shina Olukolu, and his Department of Operations counterpart, Bello Makwashi, to lecture the men to maintain credibility and professionalism to portray the new status.

Among other senior officers present at the ceremony included Deputy Commissioner of Police and Second-in-Command DCP Celestine Okoye, all the area commanders, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge Training and Development, ACP Jude Azuka and Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, ACP Rotimi Adelesi.

The commissioner charged them to be more professional and be of good conduct while discharging their duties and must see promotion as additional challenge that must be managed.

Meanwhile, Ali also received the Ogun State Command’s contingent to the recently concluded Police Games in Abuja.

Adejobi stated that the participants from the command won 20 gold, 10 silver and 8 bronze medals at the competition.

Ali, according to the police image maker, appreciated them for their commitment and love for sports and Nigeria Police Force at large.

“He gave some monetary rewards to the participants as part of Command’s appreciation for the good performance at the games,” Adejobi said, adding: “The high number of Medals won by Ogun State Command made the Zone 2 Command, which comprises Ogun and Lagos States, to be the best overall in the 2016 Police game held in Abuja.”
