Police nab suspected Boko Haram member in Ogun

NIGERIA: A SUSPECTED member of the dreaded Boko Haram who fled Maiduguri, Borno State, has been arrested in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command said that the 22-year-old Muktah Umar, who ran away from the stronghold of the battle field, was on Monday paraded after he was apprehended at Kara community of Ifo Local Government area of the state.
Police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, who paraded Umar and some arrested kidnappers at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office at the Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta said that the suspect fled Maiduguri after the heat unleashed on the terrorists by the joint military task force.
Ali stated that Umar fled Maiduguri and relocated to Isheri in Lagos State.
The police boss said that thereafter the suspect moved to Kara community along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where he was eventually apprehended.
He explained that Umar’s arrest was effected after a tip off, which the police worked on effectively, particularly after it was discovered that he hand link with Boko Haram.
Umar, who spoke with reporters, denied being members of the dreaded group, but said that his friend, one Mustapha, who had since been declared wanted, was a member.
The suspect said further that he was wrongly declared wanted with his friend, the development which made him to tell his father who advised him to relocate.
Umar said that he had moved to Kara over three years ago before his arrest, just as he maintained that he was innocent, and not a member of the Boko Haram.
The command also paraded five suspects who were suspected of involvement in kidnapping.
