It said on Tuesday in New York, US that it expressed deep condolences and sympathy to those Nigerians whose family members were killed and maimed in the attack.

Similarly, the council said it expressed sympathy with the Nigerian government and its citizens.

The world body offered words of commendation on the efforts of the region, including the Multi-National Joint Task Force, to fight Boko Haram.

According to the council, terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, is one of the most serious threats to international peace and security around the globe.

The council stressed that the perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism must be brought to justice appropriately.

It stressed that all acts of terrorism, wherever and whenever, and committed by whomsoever, were criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation.
The council pleaded with various countries to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in regard to stamping out terrorism globally.

This, the council said, must be done in line with their obligations under international laws and relevant Security Council resolutions.
