Road construction truck kills teenager, injures siblings in Abeokuta

NIGERIA: A TRUCK belonging to a Chinese construction company on Tuesday killed a teenager in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The truck owned by the road construction firm also injured three others.
The incident occurred at Oke-Ijeun area of the town when the 15-year-old girl identified simply as Imisi had gone to pick her siblings in school.
Imisi and her siblings were returning from the school when they were knocked down by the truck.
Eyewitnesses told GatewayMail that the truck marked 44F 42 belonging to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was part of the trucks the company utilizes for the road construction awarded by the Ogun State government.
Sympathizers besieged the scene and for hours prevented the evacuation of the corpse, as the three injured children were rushed to the hospital.
The injured children were being attended to and responding to treatment as at the time of filing this report.
The Works and Infrastructure Commissioner, Architect Olamilekan Adegbite, was at the scene of the accident.
After discussing with the few of the people around, Adegbite left with the deceased’s father and some sympathizers who were at the scene.
