The department in conjunction with men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) stormed Amour Petroleum, Saquad Oil, Rab Engineering, Arolat, SAF petroleum and Muyad Nigeria Limited and shut the stations.
The head of the delegation, Mr Mohammed Umar, explained that the monitoring was a usual routine to make sure that fuel stations comply with government’s order.
Also speaking on the action, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Kareem Olanrewaju, told reporters that they took the steps after several tip-off and outcry by members of the public on the hoarding and selling above official price by the stations.
Olanrewaju, who confirmed that the closure of the affected filling stations, said that their reopening would be subjected to compliance by the management of the stations, adding that the team had inspected 15 fuel stations.

According to him, six erring stations were sealed while two were ordered to dispense fuel freely to motorists and residents.

He explained that the defence corps would continue to work with the DPR to ensure total compliance with the government’s directive.
Said Olanrewaju: “It is not only NSCDC that is in it; we are out with the DPR and that gives us the full hammer in accordance with the authority given by the federal government to come out and act together.”
The NSCDC image maker said that the monitoring would not be carried out only in Abeokuta metropolis but “we will storm other parts too.”
“They should be wary of this exercise and do the needful,” he said, adding: “It is either they sell at normal price or risk their filling stations being sealed or their product dispensed freely.”
“We will move to other parts of the state soon but it won’t be made public; we’ll just go there unexpectedly as we did today,” Olanrewaju maintained.
