US: THREE minutes separated a San Diego, California twins who were born into two different years.
The newly born babies came to life at San Diego Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center, US at 11.59pm of December 31, 2015 and 12.02am of January 1, 2016.
The twins – a girl and a boy – are the children of 22-year-old mom, Maribel Valencia, and dad, Luis and they were both 18.5 inches long.
With their birth, the twins might go into San Diego record as Jaelyn the last child to be born in 2015 and Luis the first in 2016, though their parents had planned to deliver them through cesarean.
They had earlier scheduled the operation to take place on January 6, 2016 before she eventually delivered the babies through normal procedure on the historic days.
Maribel is a cashier at the San Diego International Airport while Luis works as a diesel mechanic with the United States Navy.
The both previously had a three-year-old daughter, Isabella, before the twins.
Hospital sources confirmed that while the Jaelyn (girl) weighed four pounds, 15 ounces, Luis (boy) weighed five pounds, nine ounces, and with their mother they were in healthy situations.
The parents, who lived in San Diego, said that they were watching what would happen after it was labor time for the mum to deliver the twins.
According to them, it was surprising and historic that the babies came into the world at different years.
