Ogun introduces electronic payment for water bills

NIGERIA: OGUN State Government has introduced Point of Sales (POS) system, a quick teller option for payment of water bills by its customers.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Engineer Ayodele Jolaoso, made this known on Friday at a one-day training program for staff of the State Water Corporation in Abeokuta.
He explained that the new device was introduced in order to tackle customers’ stress during the payment of water bills, and that the old payment method has become outdated.
Jolaoso stressed that the old method of collecting revenue had been greatly abused, adding that the newly introduced electronic payment will definitely yield positive result in generating revenue.
He advised consumers to use the opportunity to their own advantage by not falling for the antics of some dubious staff of the corporation.
The permanent secretary also advised the management to set up necessary checks to ensure desired result is achieved.
Similarly, General Manager of the Water Corporation, Engineer Monsurat Agboola, noted that the training was important because it would drastically reduce fraud being perpetrated by some workers in the corporation.
Agboola maintained that the electronic payment system would also provide suitable means of payment system for the customers.
