Seven die in road mishap in Ogun

…As man dies 24 hours after his dad died

NIGERIA: SEVEN youths, who were returning from a night club, died last Tuesday in a car crash along the Ifo-Abeokuta road in Ogun State.

GatewayMail gathered that the victims, who were alleged to be heavily drunk, left the club in Ifo in their Mazda car at about 1am to Itori, their base.

On their way, one of them who was alleged to have driven the car on top speed, lost control and hit a stationary vehicle along the road.
It was learnt that no one was near the accident scene at the odd hour to rescue the deceased youths when the crash occurred, which eventually led to their death on the spot.

Passersby discovered the dead bodies the following morning by the road side and they promptly alerted authorities.
The corpses of the victims, GatewayMail further gathered, were later deposited at the Ifo General Hospital.
In a related development, a 32-year-old man, Iskilu Subulade, has died in a mysterious manner after receiving a telephone call informing him about the death of his father.
The victim, who was a carpenter and resident of Oke Sokori area of Abeokuta, was said to have lost his 80-year-old father a day before his death.
GatewayMail gathered from a family source that the victim was unaware of his father’s death until the following day, when he was informed on telephone.

On hearing the shocking news, he was reported to have slumped and died before he could be rushed to hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor.
Some family members who spoke with GatewayMail expressed shock on the development.

They stressed that it was surprising that the man died barely 24 hours after the demise of his father.
