Ogun police nab six suspected armed bandits

NIGERIA: SIX suspected armed robbers who specialized in robbery and snatching of cars in Ire-Akari Community and the entire Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have been arrested.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the arrest of the men was part of the efforts of the police command to solidify security arrangements during the ember months.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended by policemen attached to Onipanu Division of the command last Friday.
“The suspects were arrested by the police operatives after a tip-off from the community and fierce surveillance placed on the suspects throughout the night, after their operations in the same area, before the arrest at about 0500 hrs,” Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.
He added: “At least 4 (four) out of the suspected armed robbers, whose syndicate has been terrorising the area for a while, have been identified by victims of their various operations all over the Local Government Area and beyond.
Adejobi explained that those apprehended included Temituru Oluwafemi, Ibrahim Hakeem, Babalola Olufujabi, Ajadi Adesoji, Taye Ogede, and Bakare Sakiru.
“Their operation vehicle, Golf 3, Black, with Reg No LSR 86 CA, dangerous weapons and assorted charms were recovered from them,” the police image maker said.
“The Commissioner of police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta for proper investigation and prosecution,” Adejobi said, adding: “The Commissioner of Police has emphasized on robust intelligence-driven and community-based policing as acceptable and effective tool towards adequate security in Ogun State.”
