Saraki, Dogara, Ambode congratulate Ooni-elect Ogunwusi

NIGERIA: SENATE President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honorable Yakubu Dogara, and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode have congratulated the Ooni-elect, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
Saraki urged the new Ooni to concentrate on how to further solidify the role of the Yoruba people in national unity.
Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, wished the Ooni-elect a long and peaceful reign, sound health and many years of service to his people.
The Senate President said that the Ooni-elect had so many things in common with the immediate past Oba Sijuwade, which include but not limited to being widely traveled, exposed, versatile, well-informed and somebody devoted to community service.
According to Saraki, the appointment of the new Ooni could not have come at a better time than now.
“I am particularly delighted that the approval of your appointment by the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, came at a time when the youthful zest, experience, and knowledge of global best practices, which you possess in abundance are needed to move the traditional institution and most especially, the revered throne of the Ife Kingdom, to the next level,” the Senate President said.
He added: “I have no doubt that your present assignment would greatly enhance the bond of unity that exists among the Yorubas as well as contribute immensely to the growth and development of our dear country.”
“May your ascension to the throne of your forebears mark the beginning of a new era of prosperity, peace,
development and progress for your immediate subjects, the Yoruba race and the entire nation,” Saraki said, adding further that: “It is my prayer that the people of Ife and the entire Yorubaland would find in you a rallying point for unity, peace and progress just like they did during the time of your predecessors.”
Similarly, Dogara urged the new Oba to emulate his predecessor, adding that the role of traditional rulers in nation-building cannot be over-emphasised.
The Speaker, in a congratulatory statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, said that the legislature is open to the wise counsel and invaluable support of the new Ooni in its quest to effect change and re-position our dear nation for enduring peace, security, accelerated growth and development.
Dogara stressed: “As you ascend the glorious revered throne of your fore-fathers, I join your family, the good people of the historic kingdom of Ife, friends, proteges and well-wishers to ask God to guide, guard and give you wisdom to lead.”
“I note that the position of Ooni carries with it authority, influence and power and therefore I urge Your Royal Majesty to rule with the fear of God and serve as a father to all,” Dogara said.
Also, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode congratulated Ogunwusi and advised him to see his appointment as a call to service and to the upliftment of humanity.
Ambode, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, also tasked the Oba-elect to be courageous in his decisions.
The governor enjoined Ogunwusi to pout on his priority list the unity of the Yoruba race.
