NIGERIA: THE Ogun State Football Association has expressed joy over the step taken by the Chairman of Remo Stars football club, Kunle Soname, to buy a second division club, Clube Desportivo Feirense, which was relegated from the Super Liga in 2011.
The association hailed Soname for the historic feat as the first Nigerian football administrator to own private clubs both in the country and overseas, specifically Europe.
The decision is commendable, historic and worthy of emulation, the football association Chairman, Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi, said in a release.
Majekodunmi said in a release signed by the Media Officer to the association, Wole Otayemi, that Soname has achieved a feat that would benefit Nigerian teeming youths across the country.
The association, which promised to hold a grand reception to honour Soname on Sunday, October 18, said several young footballers from the South West and the entire country would gain from the laudable move.
The reception will take place during the grand finale of the 3rd Sir Kessington Adebutu Under 18 football championship at the Gateway stadium in Sagamu beginning from noon.
The chairman pledged the association’s support to Soname, who is the Chairman of popular sports betting site Bet9ja, and other people with good intention of developing football in the Gateway State.
