Buhari hails Ayo Fasanmi at 90

NIGERIA: PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with Senator Ayo Fasanmi on his 90^th birthday.

Fasanmi, former member of the House of Representatives and Senator, contested the Ondo State Governorship primary of the Unity Party of Nigeria in 1978 but lost to Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin who eventually became the governor.

The president said he joined others to celebrate Fasanmi, who was one time National Vice Chairman of the defunct Alliance for Democrary, Southwest Zone.

“President Buhari joins Pa Fasanmi’s family, friends and kinsmen in celebrating the elder statesman’s longevity in the service of his community, region and country,” the Special Adviser to the Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

He added: “On the joyous occasion of Pa Fasanmi’s 90th birthday, President Buhari applauds his uncommon and exemplary life of steadfast commitment to progressive ideals.

“The President commends Pa Fasanmi’s most admirable fidelity to the noble ideals of justice, equity, honesty, patriotism and selflessness as worthy of emulation by younger Nigerians.”

“He prays that God Almighty will grant many more years of good health and happiness to Pa Fasanmi who was first elected into the House of Representatives between 1964 and 1966 and served as a two-term Senator between 1979 and 1983,” Adesina added.
