Two journalists, 34 others top Ambode’s nominees as commissioners, special advisers

…Governor sends names to Assembly for screening

NIGERIA: TWO journalists – Mr. Kehinde Bamgbetan, a two-term former chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Authority and Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the ex-Managing Director of National Mirror newspaper – are among 36 persons whose names were submitted on Monday to the Lagos State House of Assembly for screening by the governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Ambode said the list consists of 23 and 13 would-be commissioners and special advisers, who are likely to be sworn in on October 5.

The Clerk of the House, Ganiyu Abiru, read the names on the floor to members, among who are the names of six former cabinet members under the administration of the immediate past Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.

It was gathered that the house may begin the screening of the nominees shortly after the resumption of Sallah holidays.

The former commissioners and special advisers who would be in office again, should they scale through the house screening, are Gbolahan Lawal (Commissioner for Agriculture), Dr. Jide Idris (Commissioner for Health), Folarin Coker (Special Adviser, Central Business District), Seye Oladejo (Special Adviser Commerce and Industry), Engr. Ganiyu Johnson (Special Adviser Works and Infrastructure) and Babatunde Hunpe (Special Adviser Rural Development).

Others also on the list are Yetunde Onabolu, Fela Bank-Olemoh, Akinyemi Ashade, Alhaja Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Kehinde Joseph, and Prof. Ademola Abass, a professor of Law.
Also included on the list are Dr. Akintola Benson, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, Dr. Mohammed Akinkunmi, former member, House of Representatives, Dr. Babatunde Adejare; Dr. Femi Onanuga, CEO of LAMATA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Arch. Wasiu Anifowoshe, ex-member, House of Assembly, Lola Akande, Agboola Dabiri, and Ganiu Okanlomo Sanni.

Other names on the list included Anofi Elegushi, Rotimi Ogunleye, Adebimpe Akinsola, Femi Odubiyi, Alhaji Musiliu Folami, Adeniji Kazeem, Adeyemi Labinjo, Toyin Suarau, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, Deji Tinubu, and Mudirat Giwanson.
