CANADA: THREE years after the killing of 44-year-old Jayesh Prajapaati by a “gas-and-dash” driver, police have gotten a clue on the man likely to have committed the act.

The police on Wednesday nabbed 42-year-old Max Edwin Tutiven around 9.30am after the announcement of $25,000 reward – two days earlier – for any link that could lead to his arrest.  The arrest came few days after the third anniversary of the death of the Toronto man and Tutiven was apprehended after a tip-off, police said.

Montreal police spokesperson, Andre Leclerc, said Tutiven bought $112.85 (N17, 266) gas at a gas station three years ago, but refused to pay.

He stressed that in the attempt to drive away in his four-door SUV van the suspect killed Prajapaati.

The spokesman, who disclosed that the suspect will face second-degree murder charges, said Tutiven had been involved in two previous gas thefts in Toronto and one in Montreal.

He explained that investigators stormed the Montreal building where Tutiven was staying, but that the suspect surrendered himself at the time police were planning to obtain a warrant to get in.

The gas attendant died due to injuries he sustained after he attempted to halt the suspect who hit and dragged him for few distance before speeding off.

Prajapati was rushed to the hospital but later died.
