This development on Thursday came shortly after the world fastest sprinter won the 200 metres contest, as the television cameraman apologized to Bolt, who just moments earlier got his gold medal.
The Jamaican sprinter defeated rival American Justin Gatlin, who came into the contest with this year’s best time, to clinch his fourth consecutive 200-metre victory.
Bolt ran 19.55 seconds, to defeat Gatlin who clocked 19.74 for another silver medal, while South Africa’s Anaso Jobodwana won bronze in 19.87 seconds.
Bolt had earlier defeated Gatlin in the 100 meters crown for the third time beating the American to the line by 0.01 second.
“There was no doubt, I told you guys that I would do it,” a highly elated Bolt boasted after the sweet victory.
The cameraman was filming Bolt’s victory celebration on a two-wheeled motorized vehicle when he unexpectedly hit the world champion, who sprinted up immediately and said he was unhurt after he enquired from the television man if he was okay. Bolt only sustained few scratches on the legs.
Song Tao, whose wheeler hit a metal rail by the track and rammed into the world class athlete’s back, handed Bolt a plastic red bracelet as a way of apology.
Tao put it on the 200 metres winner’s wrist to wear, apparently as a good luck charm, as they exchanged hand pleasantries and beamed smiles.
Bolt also gave the cameraman a thumbs-up to the profound delight of the enthusiastic crowd who watched as the two men met at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.
