Gani Adams: OPC spent N4m to promote Osun-Osogbo Festival

Otunba Gani Adams said the money was spent to ensure success of the world rated cultural festival.
According to him, the money was committed to the event by the congress to promote, and add cultural and socio-economic values to the festival.
Adams, who spoke in Lagos that the money was spent to identify with cultural activities of the country, said: “It is part of the mandate of the Odua People’s Congress to support and promote cultural activities in the country. The N4 million was spent on cultural activities organised by the OPC to make the just concluded Osun-Osogbo festival a fun-filled one.”
“The OPC members came to Osogbo in no less than 300 buses,” he said, adding: “We also invited a popular musician to entertain us and the visitors, provided various types of foods for them and also ensured that they all stayed within a befitting environment.”
“The group also organised lots of cultural activities to entertain its guests, tourists and visitors at the event,” he said, while further stressing that the involvement of the congress made the event colourful and added value to the yearly festival.
Adams, who stressed that the festival had become tourism event which can be utilized to woo foreign tourists and investors, pleaded with the Federal Government to utilize the tourism potentials in the country for economic growth.
“Nigeria is blessed with enormous tourism potentials that can be used to shore-up its economic development,” the OPC national leader said, adding: “There are countless monuments and thousands of attractions spread across the length and breadth of the country.”
“If all these resources and potentials are developed, it will help to improve the nation’s economy and enhance its holistic development,” he also said.
