NIGERIA: THE controversial lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has been arraigned before a Wuze Zone 2 Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja.
The police dragged him to court on allegations that he escaped from lawful custody.
GatewayMail reports that Melaye, who is representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, was, however, granted N90 million bail.
But, the legislator’s aide explained that shortly after the freedom, Melaye, who was brought to the court on wheel chair on Wednesday, was immediately rearrested by the police and taken to Force Headquarters in Abuja.
It would be recalled that the Senator was Tuesday last week, while being taken to Lokoja from Abuja to face criminal charges, allegedly jumped out of the moving police vehicle, and got injured.
He was thereafter hospitalised till Wednesday afternoon when police arraigned him in court.
A source, however, told GatewayMail that Melayo might be taken to Lokoja, Kogi State capital instead of the hospital to face the criminal charges.
But, attempt to confirm this from the force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
