The removal was with immediate effect, a release signed by the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Interior, Mr Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji, said.
According to the release issued on behalf of the permanent secretary of the ministry, the president also directed Parradang to quit for his Deputy, Mr. Martin Abeshi, to immediately take over his responsibilities.
The reasons for the sack were not adduced, but sources said that the NIS has been under focus of recent, particularly with the discovery of a wanted suspected terrorist who obtained a Nigerian valid visa in Lebanon.
The suspect, Ahmad al-Assir, who was in possession of a fake Palestinian passport and the Nigerian visa, was apprehended last August 15, while attempting to leave Lebanon through Cairo to Nigeria.
Al-Assir, according to report, was picked up at the Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport.
While Buhari has ordered investigation into how the wanted man obtained the visa, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulus Lolo, last Wednesday clarified the issue, saying that the suspected terrorist was a Palestinian who lives in Lebanon.
It would be recalled that in 2014 under the immediate past administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, particularly with Parradang as the boss of NIS, a recruitment exercise conducted to fill vacancies into the service ended in a tragic end.
No fewer than 21 applicants were killed during stampede that ensued with scores sustaining various degrees of injuries.
